The "Fainting" Soldier April 4, 2010
Gal 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
In a battle on the front lines, a solder's most dangerous time is when he becomes exhausted and tired. It is during these times that he could make a major mistake and be killed.
In our walk with God, this can happen as well. We become weary with fighting the battles of life and temptations. We slowly lose our zeal and our awareness of danger. We become so weary, that we want to faint. When we spiritually faint we get spiritually tired and give up! That is not what we should do.
When we do get weary and faint, the best thing to do is just find some quiet alone time with God. Forget your prayer list, forget your chores and forget how heavy the battle is. Find yourself a bunker off the front lines and recharge your life.
Don't let these endtimes knock you out of the battle. Temptation is increasing, trouble is multiplying and people are just quitting on God. Hang in there, don't let the devil or tribulation separate you from the love of God!
Name It - Claim It Deception February 20, 2010
One of the most frustrating things a person can go through is for their prayers to go unanswered. Saints of God seem to "ask, knock and seek" continually for the things they want and call it... "Name it and Claim It."
The "Name it - Claim It" idea is not a biblical doctrine. The scriptures that refer to praying "what so ever you desire when ye pray" seems to fuel Christian's "selfish" praying. Praying that way often turns into demanding more then faith.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. (Jas 4:3)
We have to remember... God has a will and timing for everything. Just because you read it in the Word doesn't mean it is time for it at that point in time. What about this scripture...
And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. (1 John 5:14)
You can ask God to do such and such all you want on your own and call it faith, but is it God's will for what you are asking? Notice that prayer being answered is ONLY ACCORDING TO HIS WILL.
If God doesn't want to heal so-and-so because He is doing something with their infirmity. Then prayer for God to heal them is useless at that point in time.
There is the WILL and TIMING of God... you have to sensitive enough to know the timing and will!
He's Not The Butler February 22, 2010
One of the hardest things I have had to learn is the fact that God is not a butler. As a matter of fact, He is not the "Co-Pilot" either as some bumper stickers state!!
In scripture, God is to be feared and obeyed as Lord and Master of our lives. God rules the affairs of man by any means he chooses. He is a consuming fire and it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.
That being said, one of the "spirits" that the devil is throwing at the church is that of a "demander." That attitude is one that "names it and claims" and then determines to push God into giving it to them... like He is the butler or something. The devil's greatest desire is to get God's people to be self-willed and take over the throne of God in their own lives. Jesus then becomes the one taking orders instead of giving them!
What happened to just plain old entreating God for what He wants. Losing the attitude of servant hood will get us into spiritual trouble! Sometimes we desire the things of God so much, that we start demanding God do this or that... NOT GOOD!!
Let us be humble, thankful and SERVE Him and what He wants. Lets put Him back on the throne of our hearts!!
The Fun Church Illusion November 22, 2009
Over the past few years there has been a shift in churches to be a fun place to go. Churches today seem to appeal to more of the carnal activities and programs that the world uses as well. You see more parties, festivals, musicals, concerts, light shows and fun entertainment that is geared to social activities.
There seems to be a mind set that a church has to entertain to get people to come and also get people to attend on a regular basis. Churches seem to be competing for people of their cities. The sad part is that sinners are more picky about choosing a church that has a social atmosphere.
As part of the "Fun Church Illusion", there also seems to be more of an emphasis on music and emotional praise in church. Livelier music has replaced solemn worship songs. The "livelier" music seems to try and get people to shout, dance and clap more. The music also seems to be sounding more and more like worldly rock music that stimulates emotionalism more then anointed worship.
Is this the type of church Jesus is looking for? There is nothing wrong with true anointed rejoicing songs! Nothing wrong with get-together or time of fun! BUT... is the church a soul saving, miracle delivering church that Jesus anoints?
The illusion of a socially geared church, is that, thinking entertainment will draw and keep people in church. Jesus taught that no man can come to the Father except the Spirit draw him. There has to be an anointing on God's work for the saving of lost souls. A church must be a praying and fasting church; it must demonstrate the healing power of God.
If a church fails to display the power of God and provide true deliverance to the lost, then using social activities is an injustice to the purpose of the church. If a church is caught in this type of illusion, they need to stop the programs, repent and find God again and get that power back flowing in it's church! |
