The Open Door To Sin & Devils

INTRODUCTION
In my last article; God, Angels, Demons & People, I discussed the very reasons why there is even a "spirit realm" and why we have to face spiritual warfare. In this study, we are going to see how the demonic world invaded God's perfect creation through Adam and Eve. This fall of mankind contains the fundamental reasons why we have to deal with sin, devils and death. Please, pay close attention to this article, as it will help you understand the rest of this series going forward.

GOD'S CREATION... A PERFECT PARADISE?
When God created the earth and set Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, it was a "PERFECT" world for them both. There was no knowledge of sin, no death, no guilt and shame. God would fellowship with His creation in the cool of the day... there was no spiritual separation between God and mankind! There was ONLY ONE COMMAND for Adam and Eve to follow; and that was they could eat of every tree in the garden, except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They could not eat from that tree or they would die.

What we do need to understand is that the spirit world was not perfect because the presence of the devil was there at that time. It was only creation and Adam and Eve's body-soul-spirit that were pure.

ADAM & EVE'S LIFE IN THE GARDEN
When God created Adam, he gave him authority and dominion over the entire earth. He was in charge of naming all the animals and taking care of the garden. God then created Eve to be a helper in his rule of the earth; and since living in the Garden of Eden was paradise, Adam and Eve was naked and had a perfectly peaceful and euphoric life. They only knew the voice of God and knew nothing about the devils that were trolling on the earth.

EVE'S TRIP TO THE FORBIDDEN TREE
Eve knew what God commanded, but one day she got to close to that tree. Eve knew God's voice and what the presence of God felt like. We also have to remember, Eve knew nothing about deception or any other spirit being; and the devil took notice of this and came up with a plan to deceive her.

THE DEVIL COMES AS AN ANGEL OF LIGHT
In Genesis 3 is the account of the fall of Adam and Eve. Since Eve had only known God's voice and presence, there was only one way to deceive her, and that was he had to pretend to feel and sound like God himself as close as he can.

2Co 11:14 And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

The spirit of the devil (serpent) came to Eve with a very subtle (deceptive) voice. His presence felt very similar to God, and his ultimate goal was to get her to question what God had said. As Eve responded, the devil then twists what God had said and he adds just one word... "NOT"... And thus, it became a lie.

Gen 3:4-5 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: (5) For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

Once the devil twisted God's word, he then appeals to her lack of knowledge by saying that God does know that when you eat, your eyes will be opened and you shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. These words caused Eve to question what the Lord actually said. She felt deprived and when she saw that the fruit would make her wise and was good to eat... she ate it and gave it to Adam as well.

Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

WHAT SPIRITUALLY HAPPENED TO ADAM & EVE?
When Eve was deceived, she ate the fruit and caused Adam and herself to disobey the Lord's command; something demonic entered their minds and heart. The spirit of the devil had just defiled their pure and holy life so much so that it was going to cause them to die.

By yielding to the temptation of the devil and sinning, they have also yielded their authority and dominion of the spirit world. No longer was mankind in charge; that right, now belonged to the devil who is the prince and power of this air (world), even up to now. For we read...

Eph 2:2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:

Another tragedy, and most importantly; Adam and Eve has been separated, and has lost their fellowship with God. The entering in of demonic spirits makes them sinful and unclean; and God cannot fellowship with sinful man. Because of the sin and spiritual death that has now taken place, the demonic spirits and sin has affected the soul of mankind forever. As a result, we are all born automatically with that sinful nature, even up to this day.

PUNISHMENT AND REDEMPTION
When God came on the scene, He knew what they had done, but just wanted them to acknowledge what they did. As it is today, God wants us to acknowledge our sins. However, just like Adam and Eve, they blamed someone else for their sin.

Because God has to keep his word, he had to punish them for disobedience. Those punishments are listed in Genesis 3:9-19. When reading the hardship that is placed on them, you can still see its effects on us today. There is trouble and sorrow raising children, we have to work for our food, and death of loved ones is painful.

Now because of sin, Adam and Eve is driven away from the garden to live a life or sorrow, pain, hard work and spiritual emptiness. They now have to live with that "knowledge of evil" and they have to struggle against the sinful nature they just received when they chose to listen to the devil.

There was a small consolation in this for them. God made coats of skins for them by shedding the blood of animals. There was also a promise made to her seed of the coming Messiah (Jesus), and the defeat of the Devil and his kingdom. This is stated in Genesis 3:13-14.

CONCLUSION
When you look at the way the devil deceived Eve, you will see a very familiar pattern to how the devil still talks to people today. The devil doesn't always come to us in a raging voice, but sometimes he comes ever so pleasurable and sweetly. Sometimes he comes accusing us as well. The power of the devil is in his deception and lies. He has to get us to question what is right, and or make us feel deprived. The devil does all this by speaking thoughts into our minds.

To understand human nature, you only have to look at the sinful nature we are born with. Our nature is toward doing what is against God; that is why living in sin is bondage. Sin is pleasurable, it will give you more "evil" knowledge, it will control you and it is never satisfied!

When the devil entered into Adam and Eve, they gave him the power and authority to run this world now. This "spirit world" that we all live in now is controlled by the devil. Because he is the "god" of this world, he controls everyone who is in sin; unless of course a person becomes a believer and is born again.

As you can see, because of mankind’s fall, we are forced to deal with the demonic world and our own sinful nature... thus, spiritual warfare is necessary to get back what Adam and Eve lost in the garden of Eden. Our salvation process is meant to undo the damage that sin has caused.

Even though the devil has dominion of this present world, we do understand that God is really the one in full control of everything. It's just that man has yielded to the devil; thus the devil controls man and the spirit world up to a point.

So, as we move forward in this series, just remember, everything about demon influences on man can be traced back to the fall of man. And since, God ultimately is the victor, let’s see how we can fight the good fight of faith and win in this Spiritual Warfare!

He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
